Morphy's Mate
Morphy's Mate is a bishop-and-rook corner pattern: the bishop delivers or supports the mate on the long diagonal while a rook cuts off the king's rank, the monarch trapped in the corner behind its own pawn.
How to spot it: a bishop bearing on the enemy king's corner plus a rook on the back rank is the recipe: clear the diagonal, often with a sacrifice, and mate.
